Don’t Wait to Be Rich and Empty
I saw a quote on printerest today “some people are so poor, all they have is money”
Don't wait until you are rich and unhappy before you realize that money does not buy happiness.
We hear wealthy people say it all the time on social media.
And we think they are speaking from boredom, excess, or clouds we have not touched yet.
Our reaction is always to roll ours eyes and say "Let me get rich first. Then I will confirm whether it is true".
We see them above us in position, so we dismiss their perspective.
We want to look through their wealthy lens – even when our own lens is clearer.
We want to arrive at the state of being rich and hollow before we understand what they meant.
Repeated emphasis has been laid on prioritizing mundane life, the quiet gestures, the ordinary joys – over unreasonable material validation. But we intentionally ignore it, driven by a pursuit we barely understand.
One day in class, the lecturer had asked:
“At what point do you consider someone rich?”
No one could answer definitively.
Some said, “When you can take care of your family.”
He asked, “How much do you need to take care of your family?”
They responded almost immediately, “Infinity.”
If it is infinity, when then can anyone be called rich?
Does anyone possess infinity?
Silence.
He mentioned a philosopher who argued that once you can afford food, clothing, shelter, and basic necessities, every additional wealth is merely excess – an extract, not essence.
They almost argued over that too and he switched back to his lecture topic to prevent further opinions.
We exhaust ourselves chasing money that one diagnosis can swallow.
We drain our hearts for validation that dissolves under pressure.
Don't despise wealth but approach it without losing yourself in the process 🌟💫🌈🎯👍😊🌹💖
