What Can You Do? - 3 months ago

Before going for my NYSC, I worked as a sales representative in a tech company in Lagos, Computer Village, precisely.

A few weeks ago, my boss called me saying someone wanted to do a live broadcast on Facebook and also manage their account, and he needed help.

He said he'd given the person my number but just wanted to let me know.

Truthfully, I have never done a live broadcast on Facebook before, but when he told me, I didn't reject the opportunity,

I simply said okay.

Under 24 hours, the person called me, introduced herself as being referred by my boss, and explained what she wanted to do. She explained that it's a church account, and they're looking to start going live on Facebook.

I replied, "Please give me a few minutes; let me call you back."

Guess what I did. 🤔

I simply went to the University of YouTube.😂

Yes oo, YouTube is a university for me.

I watched about 5 videos on going live on Facebook and setting up a proper Facebook account.

I made sure I practiced before getting back to her.

I called her back and gave her a rundown on how to go live on Facebook, I also helped her set up the Facebook profile professionally.

Guess what she said?

"You're good at your job, and I want you to be the ministry's social media manager."

Note, I didn't have prior knowledge of doing these things

I just spent a few hours on YouTube, and that was it.

I'm sharing this story so you know there's hardly anything you can't do, especially with digital stuff.

Don't ever say you can't do something.

I've got plenty more stories like this, and maybe tomorrow, I'll share another one about how I had no background knowledge but submitted myself to learning and pulled through.

Don't be a graduate who's clueless about basic things.

Have a grasp of everything; you might not be a master, but you're not totally in the dark about it.

The world is a great place to learn now, and you can pick up anything you want if you're willing.

Take on tasks,
Take on responsibilities,
Read books,
Watch productive videos,
There are numerous conferences I would have love to attend, but I lack the resources to do so. Instead, I simply spend time watching recordings of them on YouTube.

If you do this, you'll find out you're growing, your first attempt might not be flawless, but trust me, you're on your way.

Don't be like that corps member who said she can't operate a computer. If I were in her shoes, I would have said I can operate one.

You can do much more than you think you can do.
I'm rooting for you.
