I got to know from my Personal Assistant yesterday that one of our investors opted out in the middle of a project we were executing without any reason.
As a result of this new development, the project delivery date needs to be extended and this being our first mega project doesn't sound right. This got me wondering.
"Am I a failure?" That is the question that has been on my mind since I got the news.
So while in my study thinking about all this happenings, I felt the urge to reach out to a friend for advice, and here is what he shared with me.
"Winning is often associated with achieving the highest rank, trophy, or accolade. However, is that really the ultimate definition of success?
Sometimes, the greatest victories come from prioritizing others' happiness. By surrendering our own win, we create opportunities for others to shine, fostering a sense of community, promoting teamwork, and cultivating empathy.
Redefining success means recognizing that true winning isn't just about achieving first place. It's about empowering others to succeed, creating opportunities for growth and development, building strong relationships, and finding joy in others' triumphs. When we prioritize others' happiness, we create a ripple effect of joy and fulfillment.
In the end, winning isn't always about being on top. It's about understanding that true success is often found in the triumphs of those around us. So, let's celebrate the victories of others and find joy in their success.
By doing so, we'll discover a more profound and lasting sense of fulfillment. By redefining what it means to win, we can build a more supportive and compassionate community.
Now that this has happened, reach out to your client, explain to them why why you can't deliver on time and assure them of a new date for which you know you'll be able to deliver. Don't forget, honesty and their satisfaction should be your priority. Goodluck."
To some extent, I couldn't comprehend what he said immediately until I gave a deep thought about it.
In the end, here is the value I gained and I want you to gain this too.
"Bad days will come, it's important that you have someone you can fall back to in such days. Such person can be your friend, mentor or anyone you know is knowledgeable and has been in similar shoe as yourself.
Secondly, have a blueprint of trust, honesty and take into consideration others' happiness. Sometimes these little sacrifices make a big difference in our trying times.
Lastly, business is not business if there is no losses and gains. Some days you'll win and some days you'll lose, in either way, don't let that define who you are because you're much more than just an event (winning or losing).
The true meaning of winning, it's not always about being on top.
