Chapter Six: The Preparation

Sofia and Zephyr made the necessary preparations for the ritual, gathering rare herbs and ancient artifacts. They worked in silence, their movements swift and efficient, as if they were performing a well-rehearsed dance.

The queen's heart felt heavy, her thoughts consumed by the impending sacrifice. She knew that Arin's life was the key to saving their people, but the price was almost too much to bear.

Zephyr, sensing her distress, placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "Your Majesty, I know this is difficult, but we must see it through. The land demands it, and our people need it."

Sofia nodded, her eyes dry and burning. She knew Zephyr was right, but that didn't make it any easier.

Together, they gathered the final ingredients, their movements quick and precise. They worked in silence, the only sound the soft rustling of the herbs and the faint hum of the artifacts.

As they finished, Zephyr turned to Sofia, his eyes filled with a deep sadness. "It is time, Your Majesty. We must proceed."

Sofia nodded, her heart heavy with sorrow. She knew what lay ahead, and she steeled herself for the ultimate sacrifice.

"Let us get this over with," she said, her voice firm, but her eyes betraying her pain.

Zephyr nodded, his face somber, and together they made their way to the ritual site, the weight of their responsibility hanging heavy in the air.
