“Let’s assume that I believe you,” I suggested walking up to him, “So… if I am truly the heir, then what do I need the will for?” I asked him
“To show the world that you are truly and rightfully the sole heir.” He was bold and confident, I had to find sense in what he was saying. But I didn’t want him to know that he had gotten me, I was still very upset about him leaving such an important piece of information.
Now or in the future, I didn’t want him doing something like that. It would hurt my frail ego and make me lose the little trust I had for him.
“When will the will be read?” I asked changing the topic
“Two weeks after the funeral.” He replied me calmly
“And when is the funeral?” I further inquired
“Next week…” he answered taking out his tab and looking into it, “All you have to do is to prepare to show yourself to the world,” he announced looking up
“As what huh? The long lost grandson of the Sterling family?” I scoffed
“No…” his face held seriousness as he spoke and he made sure to hold my gaze. “You are going to the funeral to show yourself as Theodore Sterling, son of George Sterling, grandson of Cornelius Sterling III… and the sole heir of the Sterling property!”
I was speechless and I was almost brought to tears after he reminded me of my identity and rightful place after such a long time. I could only look away.
“Oh how perfect it sounds…” I said to myself, blinking away the tears that threatened to fall. “George Sterling…” I whispered under my breath, calling my father’s name after so many year of bearing, Theo.
