Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps Opens Recruitment For Grassroots Officers - 1wk ago

The Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps has launched a fresh recruitment drive for Neighbourhood Safety Officers, seeking young, qualified residents to bolster community policing efforts across all local government areas of the state.

The exercise, announced through the official portal of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, targets candidates for the Neighbourhood Safety Officer (Group B) cadre on a full-time basis. The agency describes the initiative as part of a broader push to deepen security presence at the grassroots and support conventional law enforcement with local intelligence.

According to the agency, applicants must possess at least an SSCE or WAEC certificate and fall within the 18 to 30 age bracket. Prospective officers are expected to be physically fit, of good character and free of any criminal record. The agency stresses that integrity, discipline and a willingness to serve local communities are central to the role.

The recruitment process is being conducted entirely online. Interested candidates are required to complete an application form on the agency’s official recruitment portal and upload all necessary documents. The agency warns that inaccurate or incomplete information may lead to disqualification.

After the initial screening of applications, shortlisted candidates will proceed to an assessment phase that includes screening tests and interviews. Those who scale this stage will then move to onboarding, where they will be formally inducted and deployed as Neighbourhood Safety Officers.

The recruitment follows the approval of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the engagement of additional personnel into the corps. The General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, Ifalade Oyekan, has previously explained that expanding the workforce is critical to improving response times to security incidents and strengthening the agency’s presence in communities and around public schools.

Oyekan has also framed the exercise as both a security measure and an employment opportunity for Lagos youths, noting that the initiative aligns with the state government’s commitment to building safer neighbourhoods through community-based policing.

The agency is urging eligible residents who meet the criteria and are interested in a career in public safety to submit their applications through the official portal and monitor further communication on the recruitment process.
