Bliss, is not a feeling of happiness or joyfulness, as it is a state that goes beyond our emotions.
This is a state of thoughtlessness; hence one is non-judgmental. Nevertheless, one’s being remains highly alert…aware that one is in the warm womb of existence; nothing is troubling and nothing worrying.
Explanation:
Most people mistake peace with bliss. Peace is achieved when there aren’t people and situations to disturb you——where external events are not bringing you any problems. Bliss on the other hand is concerned with one’s inner self as no matter how peaceful one’s environment is, it does not necessarily translate into an inner calm. When there is no bliss it shows that one’s core is still in turbulence...thoughts of right and wrong, anguish, judgment of others and self-loathing are still at play. The whirlpool of emotions is still spiralling, creating an inner hurricane which upset one’s equilibrium. Only when hatred is dissolved and compassion ushered in, then, bliss arrives as a byproduct on its own. You can’t force it. But for that to happen, great awareness is needed. So, it is not wrong to say that it is easy to locate a peaceful environment but difficult to attain bliss. To find bliss, one will need to cultivate one’s ability to forgive and forgo as the starting point.
