The Kaduna State Security Council, headed by Governor Uba Sani, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on the metropolitan cities of Kaduna and Zaria, as well as their surrounding areas. This decision was made following a security assessment that revealed criminal elements had hijacked the ongoing protests, leading to looting and the destruction of both private and public property.
Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, issued a statement on Monday advising residents to stay indoors while security forces work to restore order and ensure safety. He mentioned that the curfew would be subject to review as needed.
The government called on citizens to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities. Further updates on the situation are expected soon.
