The Seme Border Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has made a sensational interception, snaring a lion cub and two adorable patas monkeys being smuggled in a vehicle.

In a press release that has captured the attention of wildlife enthusiasts everywhere, Chief Superintendent of Customs Isah Sulaiman spilled the beans on the arrest of two culprits: Mr. Mathew Kofi, a Beninese national, and Mr. Nasiru Usman Gwandu, a Nigerian who shockingly claims ownership of these precious creatures. Gwandu’s confession,that they purchased the animals in Kano to smuggle them into the Benin Republic,leaves us questioning the depths of human greed!

During a routine stop-and-search operation on the notorious Badagry–Seme Expressway, operatives stumbled upon the blue Mazda vehicle with the registration number MUS 743 HA, but what they found inside was beyond alarming!

“Upon inspection, the operatives discovered one (1) lion cub and two (2) patas monkeys being transported in the vehicle in clear violation of national and international wildlife protection laws,” the statement read, sparking outrage among animal lovers and conservationists alike!

In a heroic move, the endangered species were swiftly confiscated and taken to the Command for proper documentation. Meanwhile, the two male suspects find themselves behind bars as investigations heat up!

For expert care, the precious animals were handed over to the Greenfingers Wildlife Initiative,thank goodness they’re in safe hands now!
