HOW I BECAME A PROMPTER/CONTINUITY ON SET
I honestly didn't see it coming.i was just excited to be part of the production crew, ready to assist wherever I was needed.when crew roles were being assigned for the production,I didn't expect much.i just knew I wanted to be involved somehow. As everyone was getting picked, sound, lighting, makeup, costume.i quietly waited, wondering where I'd fit in.
Then I was told,"you'll be the prompter and handle continuity"I froze for a second, then nodded. At first,I wasn't fully sure what the role demanded, but with time, everything made sense, I'm naturally observant.i notice when something is slightly off,a missed line,a change in costume,a missing prop, even small movements that don't match from scene to scene,I don't have to force it,my mind just catches these things.
As a prompter,I find joy in helping actors stay on track with their lines without interrupting the flow. And as a continuity person,I love making sure each scene matched from costume to position,to even tiny expressions.
Although it's not a loud or flashy role, but it's powerful. It suits me because I like being behind the scenes, quietly making sure things run smoothly,I like knowing that even though I'm not on screen, the final result depends on my eyes catching what others miss.
