Senegalese music icon "AKON” has reportedly gifted football star Sadio Mane $2 million following Senegal's dramatic 2026 AFCON Final victory over Morocco. The reward honors Mane’s exceptional sportsmanship and leadership during a match that nearly ended in a forfeit.

The final descended into chaos when the Senegalese team, led by coach Pape Thiaw, walked off the pitch in protest of a late penalty awarded to Morocco. While his teammates headed for the tunnel, the 33-year-old captain remained composed, reportedly persuading his team to return and finish the game. Mane’s intervention saved the match from being abandoned and preserved the tournament's integrity.

Akon praised Mane’s actions, stating that his refusal to give up was the catalyst for Senegal's victory. By keeping the team focused, Mane paved the way for Edouard Mendy’s crucial penalty save and Senegal's eventual 1–0 win in extra time. Mane was also named the tournament's Best Player, cementing his status as a national hero.
