A few days ago, I was trying to secure an internship slot at a media station. They informed me that I needed an official letter from my school.

Immediately, I sent a message to my academic adviser, who also happens to be my lecturer. A day passed, but she didn't reply. I sent another message and even gave her a missed call so she would know the matter was urgent. Still, there was no response.

Eventually, I summoned the courage to call her directly. Fortunately, she answered within two seconds.

I explained why I was calling. She acknowledged my messages and explained why she hadn't replied. Then I realized something: my earlier approach was incomplete. A formal request should clearly state the bearer's name, the purpose of the request and why a response is needed.

Hmm... all along, I thought I was being ignored. But when I discovered that the problem was my approach, it changed my perspective.

Sometimes, the issue isn't that you're asking for help, it's how you ask. Before concluding that someone is ignoring your message, call or letter, consider whether you communicated your request clearly enough. Check your approach before judging someone else's response.

On a different note, if you happen to know of any online internship opportunities in broadcasting, media or communications, I'd really appreciate your recommendations. P.S. I'm looking for a non-official internship to gain practical experience and improve my skills.
