Joshua’s Former Trainer Backs Brutal KO Win Over Fury - 3 hours ago

Robert Garcia, the man who once guided Anthony Joshua through the most pressurised phase of his career, believes the former unified heavyweight champion has the tools to knock Tyson Fury “out cold” when the long-awaited all-British showdown finally happens.

Garcia, who worked Joshua’s corner for his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, insists the key to victory will not be found in the gym but in Joshua’s mindset. In his view, a fully focused and confident Joshua is the one heavyweight on the planet with the blend of discipline, technique and raw power to separate Fury from his senses.

He highlighted Joshua’s right hand as the potential fight-ender, arguing that Fury’s defensive lapses could prove costly against such a precise puncher. Garcia described Joshua as a consummate professional in training, recalling a fighter who was always in shape, meticulous in preparation and relentless in his work ethic.

Yet he also warned that Fury’s chaotic, unorthodox style makes him dangerous in any condition. Garcia characterised the WBC champion as a natural “street” fighter, someone who can arrive heavy, appear out of shape and still produce a grueling, awkward night for any opponent. That unpredictability, he suggested, is what has undone so many of Fury’s rivals.

Despite that, Garcia’s prediction was stark: if Joshua lands his right hand cleanly, Fury goes over. He pointed to Fury’s tendency to absorb right hands in previous fights, arguing that Joshua’s accuracy and explosiveness could turn those openings into a conclusive finish.

The blockbuster clash between Joshua and Fury has been agreed in principle, with Wembley Stadium identified as the preferred venue and global streaming plans already in motion. It is being billed as the defining fight of this era of British heavyweight boxing, pitting Fury’s ring craft and resilience against Joshua’s power and athleticism.

Before that, Joshua must first navigate a high-risk warm-up bout against Albania’s Kristian Prenga in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is expected to continue under the guidance of Iegor Golub, the Ukrainian trainer who also works with Oleksandr Usyk and oversaw Joshua’s recent win over Jake Paul.

If Joshua comes through unscathed and in form, Garcia is convinced the stage will be set for a seismic night in the heavyweight division, with Fury’s reign threatened by the most devastating right hand in British boxing.
