Let me tell you how Lagos almost finished me last year.
I used to sell thrift clothes online you know, those “UK used but still loyal” types. One morning, I was ironing a customer’s dress when NEPA decided to remind me who’s boss. Light just vanished mid press.
I quietly connected my iron to my neighbor’s prepaid meter. Before I could say “Up NEPA,” she caught me red handed.
She shouted, “You’re using my light!”
I smiled and said, “No be like that oh we’re sharing blessings.”
She didn’t laugh. But me? I laughed to stop myself from crying.
That day, I posted on my business page:
“Soft life is near… it’s just held up in Lagos traffic.”
Weeks later, an influencer tagged my page. Orders started pouring in like rain during August. I dropped to my knees and told God, “I’m not crying, it’s just gratitude leaking from my eyes.”
Now I understand in this Lagos, you don’t just hustle for money, you hustle for sense of humor too. 😂
