🌅MORNING LIGHT
“Then Shall Your Light Breakforth As The Morning...” Isaiah 58:8
🎯 THE LORD’S PRAYER
FORGIVE!
🔎📖 MATTHEW 6:1-13
🎯📖 Matthew 6:12 “And forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sinned against us.”
Our communities today are being choked by so many toxic relationships in private and public spaces. These are prevalent because people are unwilling to forgive each other easily. Jesus taught us to ask God to forgive us, as we also forgive others. However, forgiveness is driven by inner compassion and not external compulsion. So Hannah More explains that, “Forgiveness is the economy of the heart. It saves the expense of anger, the cost of hatred and the waste of spirits.” No one is rich enough to afford the cost of unforgiveness. So forgive, so that your Father in heaven shall also forgive you.
👉🏽 GOD FORGIVES US
Psalm 86:5 “For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon You.”
Imagine living without the forgiveness of God. A life void of peace, robbed of joy and constantly clothed with the sense of shame, blame and guilt. But our God is good and ready to forgive - even the most imaginable offenses. Therefore, in the words of C. S. Lewis, “To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you.” Do not pine away in bitterness and regret. God is able, ready and willing to forgive us. Ask for forgiveness because God forgives.
👉🏽 AS WE FORGIVE OTHERS
Luke 6:37 “forgive, and you shall be forgiven.”
Jesus however implies that we shall be forgiven as we forgive others. The same measure, method and manner with which we forgive others shall also be applied to us. Though this does not excuse our offenders, it implies that when we refuse to forgive, we do more harm to ourselves than the offenders. Thomas Fuller rightly cautions that “He that cannot forgive others breaks the bridge over which he must pass himself; for every man has need to be forgiven.” Do you really wish that God forgives you the way you forgive others? Do you find it hard to quickly forgive and to move on? Remember that God’s grace is available for us to forgive our offenders. And He will forgive us, as we forgive those who offend us. Let us forgive!
Please meditate and pray with the hymn of Charles Wesley, Jesu Lover Of My Soul.
1 Jesus, lover of my soul,
let me to thy bosom fly,
while the nearer waters roll,
while the tempest still is high;
hide me, O my Savior, hide,
till the storm of life is past;
safe into the haven guide,
O receive my soul at last!
2 Other refuge have I none;
hangs my helpless soul on thee;
leave, ah! leave me not alone,
still support and comfort me.
All my trust on thee is stayed,
all my help from thee I bring;
cover my defenseless head
with the shadow of thy wing.
3 Plenteous grace with thee is found,
grace to cover all my sin;
let the healing streams abound;
make and keep me pure within.
Thou of life the fountain art;
freely let me take of thee;
spring thou up within my heart,
rise to all eternity.
🙏🏾 PRAYER
Heavenly Father, please forgive me for often treating those who have offended me maliciously. Please grant me the grace to live in the knowledge of your mercies upon me and help me to show mercy into others in Jesus name. Amen.
Have a wonderful day.❤️
