The commission described the document as false and misleading, stressing that it did not originate from INEC and should be completely disregarded by the public.

According to the commission, no official schedule for the 2027 polls has been released, noting that election timetables follow a clearly defined legal and administrative process. INEC explained that when such schedules are ready, they are announced through its verified channels, including official press statements, its website, and accredited media platforms. The commission warned that unofficial information could cause confusion and undermine public confidence in the electoral process.

INEC further urged citizens, political parties and stakeholders to always verify election-related information before sharing it. The commission reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and timely communication, assuring Nigerians that all authentic updates concerning the 2027 general elections would be made public at the appropriate time through credible and traceable sources.
