Principal officers of the National Assembly have paid glowing tributes to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the occasion of his 74th birthday, lauding his leadership style, reform agenda and role in Nigeria’s democratic evolution.

In a statement personally signed by him, Senate President Godswill Akpabio described Tinubu as an audacious and visionary leader with what he called a “Midas touch” for resetting the country. Akpabio said the President had shown astute leadership by championing democratic values and pushing through bold economic reforms which, though painful, were beginning to yield results.

He pledged the continued backing of the Senate for Tinubu’s administration, stressing that the National Assembly would keep working in tandem with the executive to deliver “enduring and indelible legacies” for future generations. Akpabio added that working closely with Tinubu had revealed a passion for Nigeria’s progress that he considered “contagious.”

House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, in a message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi, hailed Tinubu as a pro-democracy figure, seasoned public administrator and freedom fighter who had played a central role in the country’s democratic journey. Abbas said the President had built a strong network of progressive Nigerians united by the vision of a better country and a renewed sense of national pride.

He linked current policy shifts to the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, arguing that far-reaching reforms and resource realignments were being undertaken for the benefit of citizens and generations to come. Abbas cited improvements in revenue, transparency, infrastructure and security coordination as early indicators of the agenda’s impact.

Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogwu, also praised Tinubu’s “visionary and impactful” leadership. He said the President’s economic initiatives under the Renewed Hope framework would continue to positively affect Nigerians, and wished Tinubu good health and wisdom to steer the nation.

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, in a separate message released by his media aide Ismail Mudashir, commended Tinubu’s efforts to reposition the country for long-term growth and stability. Describing him as a tireless and visionary leader, Barau prayed for the President’s continued good health and longevity, and expressed confidence that Nigerians would reward his reforms at the polls.

Barau reaffirmed the National Assembly’s support for Tinubu’s policies and urged citizens to stand behind the administration as it confronts the country’s economic and security challenges.
