In 2013, after 26 years of at least two-pack-a-day smoking habit, Turkish man Ibrahim Yücel took drastic measures to quit smoking following the loss of his father to lung cancer.

The measure? he designed a custom copper wire cage inspired by motorcycle helmets, that locked around his head, physically preventing him from putting a cigarette to his lips.

Yücel gave the only key to his wife and daughter, who would unlock the cage only for him to eat. This bizarre, public act was his last-ditch attempt to break his addiction.
