It's still The Weekend Hot Seat with Me, kindly drop your questions relating to kids' tutoring and I'll do my best to answer.
Dear Tutor, before you begin your journey with any kids, here are some qualities you must possess.
Resilience
Forbearance
Adaptability
Audibility
Dynamic
Love
Have a good handwriting
These are few out of the many.
I often pick this because they are very important.
And patience is not there because forbearance is enough. It's important also to be able to adapt to new ideas of teaching.
I remember one of the kids I tutored some years back. We started learning how to write on the sandy ground before board and then books. If you aren't adaptable and flexible, you will conclude that a child doesn't know how to write when in real sense what the child need is just a different approach to writing.
Audibility is important as well as love. Love for the child will make you go extra mile to ask them how their school activities went and what they did in school apart from what happened in class. So show love.
You must be able to withstand difficulties else you will transfer aggression to those kids.
And a good handwriting is very important.
Have these few qualities and more and you're good to start.
It's a new week, prepare!
