The Secret Source of My Father's Wealth.
Chapter Two: Danjuma in Lagos.
Part Thirteen.
It was my first time in Lagos. The journey from Akaka village to Lagos was a fun ride to me. The roads were not that good but it was an exciting ride.
We had a lot of traffic congestions on our way and it was in the evening by 5 PM that we arrived home.
I heard Mr Kunle called out the gatekeeper's name. His appellation was Dan. Dan looked at me with his bluish eyes. I never doubted him to be the ladies' guy because he was so handsome.
When we got inside the house, I bowed down to greet the presence of wealth. When Mr Kunle asked why I bowed down, I said, 'This is where wealth lives'.
I never knew Mr Kunle was this wealthy. His house was a two-storey building. It was not the double decker that surprised me but its interior decor and exquisiteness.
It was as if the house was built for white people and not blacks. I had never thought blacks could leave in a house so wonderfully constructed like this.
'Do you still care for something to eat, Danjuma?'
'Noo, sir. I am very okay. The jollof and turkey we ate on the road did it all, sir'.
Mr Kunle chuckled. 'Tomorrow, by God's grace, I will introduce all the workers to you. Goodnight, Danjuma'.
'Goodnight, sir'.
I never believed I was the one to stay in that wide-spaced room. The big space that was wasted irked me. If Mum was here, she would have chastised Mr Kunle for mismanagement of funds.
The fan was working. The air condition was also working. And for once, I felt like a chick who mistakenly entered cold water. I went to the AC and switched it off. The fan alone should do.
Mr Kunle was now my dad, no doubt. He was now everything I got. But before I stay in his house, before he used me for money ritual, first and foremost, I must know the source of his wealth.
