Day 0048 of 1000 Days.
The Secret Source of My Father's Wealth.
Part Ten
Who could have said that a man can get so wealthy at a very tender age? Mr Kunle was just 35 and he was that wealthy How incredulous!
I sat outside the balcony, thinking out loud. It was a way I did express myself whenever I felt lost in the woods.
Mr Kunle was quite a good man. No man in Akaka village has ever spoken ill of him. Even animals can testify to his goodness and kindness. So, why would anyone like mum reject him?
'It is not as if I am rejecting Mr Kunle. He is a good man. But it is just that this decision will be an insolent act to dad wherever he may be'. Mum had told me yesterday when we went outside to talk, to avoid Mr Kunle's ears.
Mum was right actually but a man like Mr Kunle was not to be taken for granted. He would soon find a virtuous girl or woman who would hold him so tight, never wanting to let him go. But it would be at mum's loss.
Had it been that I was a girl and I was looking for a husband, I would have easily jumped at Mr Kunle, so easily, so effortlessly that people would think he either jazzed me or I drank philtre.
Well, Mr Kunle would leave for Lagos in two days' time. I was sure that mum would realize her mistake once he disappeared.
