Portugal are in advanced talks to face Nigeria in an international friendly in June as part of their build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The proposed fixture is scheduled for June 6, with Lisbon the most likely venue. Both football federations, alongside their intermediaries, have reached an agreement in principle, although a few final details remain to be finalised.

If confirmed, the match could deliver a blockbuster encounter, with Victor Osimhen set to go head-to-head with Cristiano Ronaldo on the same pitch.

Although Nigeria will not feature at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico, their impressive run at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where they finished third, has made them an appealing opponent for World Cup-bound nations.

The last meeting between the two sides ended in a 0–0 draw in Portugal on June 23, 2025.
