Police Arrest Fleeing 18-Year-Old Housewife Who Cut Husband’s Manhood In Yobe - 3 hours ago

The Yobe State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of an 18-year-old housewife, Hadiza Jamilu, who allegedly mutilated her husband’s genitals during a violent domestic dispute in Potiskum Local Government Area.

Police said the young woman fled the scene immediately after the attack, prompting a manhunt that ended with her arrest days later. The case has shocked residents of Potiskum and drawn renewed attention to the growing pattern of extreme domestic violence in parts of northern Nigeria.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Dungus Abdulkarim, officers were dispatched after receiving a distress call from neighbours who discovered the victim critically injured inside his home.

Abdulkarim explained that when officers arrived, they met the man lying in a pool of blood in his room, with no other person in sight. He was rushed first to a nearby clinic and later transferred to Azare Medical Centre in neighbouring Bauchi State for more advanced treatment due to the severity of his injuries.

Police investigations revealed that the victim’s genitals had been severed with what is believed to be a sharp object, though the exact weapon has not yet been publicly disclosed. The nature of the attack suggested a deliberate and targeted assault, prompting detectives to immediately list the wife as the prime suspect.

Abdulkarim said the suspect went into hiding after the incident, but was eventually tracked and arrested by operatives of the command. She is currently in custody while investigators work to establish the circumstances that led to the assault.

The police spokesperson disclosed that the victim, who survived the initial attack, was able to identify his wife as the assailant. However, he has not yet provided a full statement to investigators because of the intense pain and trauma resulting from his injuries.

Abdulkarim added that the command is treating the matter as a serious case of attempted homicide and domestic violence. He assured that a thorough investigation is underway, including efforts to determine whether there were prior reports of abuse, threats, or marital conflict before the attack.

Police authorities said further details will be released after interrogations are concluded and medical personnel provide a clearer picture of the victim’s condition and prospects for recovery.
