This is an interesting perspective I came across today, made ten years ago.
If drawing depends on space and music depends on time, what does literature depend on?
One answer suggested that literature also depends on time because words reveal themselves in sequence. Rearrange the order carelessly and you no longer have the same story.
Interesting.
Stories unfold through time.
After all, nobody experiences a novel all at once.
And you cannot read the ending before the beginning and expect the same experience.
We meet characters gradually.
We discover meanings gradually.
We arrive at conclusions gradually.
What do you think?
