I Lied During an Interview and Regretted It Immediately
During an interview, they asked if I knew how to use a particular software.
I said yes confidently.
Truth? I had never opened it before in my life.
The interviewer smiled and said,
“Great. Show us quickly.”
My heart almost left my body.
I clicked random things for what felt like the longest five minutes of my life.
I didn’t get the job. But strangely, I’m grateful for that embarrassment because it forced me to stop pretending and actually learn the skills I claimed to have.
Confidence can open doors, but competence keeps them open.
