Standing At The Door: A Reflection On Courtesy - 2 months ago

Visitors' trait that get the hosts running for their lives

Let's take a moment to reflect!

‎A few weeks ago, my boss called me in for an assignment. Typically, I wait at the gate and call him to open it when I arrive. However, on that particular day, as I stood at the gate, I noticed someone was approaching to open it. I positioned myself directly in front of the gate, only to find out that it was his neighbor. He was visibly surprised and taken aback by my presence, clearly not expecting anyone to be standing there. He scolded me, and all I could say was sorry. I felt quite remorseful about how my actions had affected him.

‎Until recently, I wasn't aware of the Islamic perspective on this topic, but I now recognize that my posture was inappropriate. I came across a Hadith(tradition of prophet Muhammad SAW) that teaches it is incorrect to face the door while waiting for someone to open it. Instead, one should stand to the right or left after signaling your presence, either by knocking or greeting with Salaam.

Logically, this is an absolute moral. So, lets embrace to avoid hurting others with our  mispositioning
