In tutoring kids, I've been exposed to the many injustice done to children. And the most painful part is that parents don't think to talk things through.
My encounter with Simi just resonates to one of the experiences I had a long time ago.
As diagnosed, Simi low self esteem was as a result of her parents constant shutting her up whenever she wanted to express herself.
It got to the point that, when you compliment her, she'll start crying thinking that you're indirectly mocking her.
I noticed this late but I tried my best to explain things to her. With time she was gradually coming out and becoming the girl she was meant to be...bold, beautiful, outspoken, courageous, and care free.
Here's a word to parents, being strict is good but not to the detriment of your child's sanity.
Talk to your child, not shout at them.
Reprimand and correct them, but with love.
Pray for them and build them up in God's words.
Be a parents and not a tyrant stranger.
A happy child brings joy to the home.
