Colonization: Ep 4 - Scramble For Africa (1884 -1885) - 1 month ago

By the 19th century, Europe was racing against itself.

Factories needed raw materials.

Empires needed land.

Pride needed trophies.

So they gathered in Berlin.

No African king.

No African chief.

No African voice.

Maps were spread like prey. Lines were drawn without care, cutting through families, languages, and histories. Rivers became borders. Villages were split overnight.

This meeting unleashed the Scramble for Africa.

Soldiers marched inland. Flags were raised. Treaties were signed at gunpoint. Resistance was labeled rebellion.

Africa was no longer being visited.

It was being claimed.
