Tayo was discharged from the hospital and returned home. "Kami, you almost killed me."
Kami smiled. "I know, my husband. And I'm glad you didn't die."
Tayo asked, "How do you keep a straight face when you say all these things? How calm you are about everything, right from the beginning? How do you do it, honey?"
Kami smiled. "That's my little secret."
Tayo apologized, "I'm sorry I cheated on you. I promise I'll never do it again."
Kami replied, "Well, Tayo, I'm not sorry. And I promise to give you what you deserve."
Tayo asked, "Kami, do you love me at all?"
Kami replied, "Tayo, I love you so much. From the day I set my eyes on you, and I still love you so much. It breaks my heart to fight you, but I'm not that woman in a blind love. I'm not that woman to be miserable over a man, no matter what. I will love you till my last breath, Tayo, but I will treat you just the way you deserve."
Tayo suggested, "Let's bygones be truly bygones now. Let's focus on ourselves."
Kami kissed Tayo, and the tension was palpable.
Kami sat in her well-furnished office, her leg crossed, wearing light makeup and a brown shrugged human hair. Her friend Lisa sat across the table, listening intently.
Lisa asked, "I had to ask, you actually hired an escort just to get back at your husband?"
Kami replied, "To be honest, I didn’t. I only told him that story to hurt him. I couldn’t bring myself so low as to sleeping with a man-whore. If not for anything, I couldn’t risk STDs. Besides, the only reason I shared a bed with him afterwards was because at the hospital, I requested STD tests from the doctor, and behold, he was clean."
Lisa laughed. "Kami, you are something else. I know, my friend, these men need to be put in their place sometimes. You dished him what he gave you, and he almost died. Imagine what I went through catching him in the act."
Lisa added, "But Kami, you must not tell anyone. Conceal what you told me."
Kami smiled. "Sure, Kami, the baddest bitch."
Lisa joked, "Not a bitch at all, the good wife, that’s you."
Kami sent Lisa back to her office, saying, "Look, my friend, go back to your office. I have a lot to cover up now."
At home, Kami went into the kitchen and brought out mayonnaise, splashing it on wafers and scrunching it. Tayo came into the kitchen.
"Babe, I’m hungry," Tayo said.
Kami replied, "Me too, babe. Come try this mixture. It’s so sweet."
Tayo tasted it. "Babe, what is this? That’s for children."
Kami smiled. "I know, babe. That’s what I’m craving. Haven’t you cooked?"
Tayo replied, "No, babe. I really don’t wanna cook anything. Can you just order?"
Kami refused. "No way. Let’s go out and eat today."
Tayo asked, "You should have told me earlier."
Kami smiled. "Okay, let’s go. Aren’t you going to dress up?"
Tayo replied, "No, I’m too famished for that."
Kami joked, "Women are unbelievable."
Tayo countered, "So are men."
They went to Lash and Chops. Tayo ordered fufu and chicken, while Kami insisted on entering the kitchen to see what they had. One of the waiters smiled and asked her to follow her.
Kami didn’t understand what the lady meant, but she just wanted to inhale whatever was in the kitchen. She later ordered beans, pounded yam, and green wine.
Back home, immediately after eating, she purged everything and complained that the eatery was unhygienic, and the food she ate gave her a running stomach. Tayo got her some medicine, which she took and went to sleep.
Tayo sat by the bedside, looking at his wife sleeping in a puzzled position. "I hope it’s not what I’m thinking. This woman has been behaving strangely lately. Is she really pregnant? No way. She can’t be pregnant. We have been married for four years, and she was never pregnant. And now, suddenly, she’s behaving like a pregnant woman. This is not possible."
He shook his head, disagreeing with his own thoughts.
