Day 0042 of 1000 Days.
The Secret Source of My Father's Wealth
Part Five.
Mum was still weeping. She had not gotten out of the shock yet but I was losing my cool already.
Mr Kunle signalled to me to compose myself and I did exactly that. It was so funny that Mr Kunle now had a gripping impact on me just like my parents.
'Please, open up to us. What has happened to Mr Bashir Williams?' Mr Kunle whispered softly to my mum's deaf ears.
At first, it was an awful silence. Then, bittered words and cries followed like a sequence.
'He was accused of given a patient the wrong injection ...'
'Then ... What happened next?' Mr Kunle was forcing back the pains and tears.
Mum paused for a long time again, looking defeated by the sorrowful mysterious incident. I stared at mum- a long, pitiful stare.
'Police came for him', more silence and more tears.
'Please, just divulge everything at once', Mr Kunle begged.
Mum adjusted herself and continued, 'He tried to run but he was shot by one of the police officers'.
'Mum, where is he now?' I collapsed on the floor. My head strongly hit the nearby chair but somehow, dad's painful exit neutralize that pain.
Mr Kunle was still composed. What sort of man was he, still composed in any and every situation? I need to ask him how he was doing it but for now, I need to mourn.
Who would stay in the house I had bought for dad in my imagination? Hot tears came down my face and before I knew it, Mr Kunle joined us and together, with my mum, we cried like a big family.
