A two-storey structure at No. 54 Cole Street, Cemetery Bus Stop, Oyingbo in Lagos collapsed around 12:20 a.m. today, triggering a frantic rescue operation by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS). The building had been previously marked as “distressed”.
So far, 15 people, including seven adult males, four adult females and four children have been rescued and taken to medical facilities including the Federal Medical Centre, Ebute‑Meta and the General Hospital, Odan. They are reported to have sustained varying degrees of injuries while others remain trapped beneath the rubble.
Rescue teams from the LSFRS and other emergency services continue to work through the night in the hope of reaching those still inside. No death toll has been officially confirmed yet, and investigations into the cause of the collapse are underway.
