“Awwwn, you’re so beautiful!” 🥹😍
“You look like a woman now” 👀👀
“Ah ah Rose, is this you?” 😭✨
“This look fits you so well” 💕
“You’re glowing!” ✨
“You look so elegant and soft” 🥰
Those were some of the comments I got.
So back in 2020, I cut off my hair with the hope of plaiting it the following year. But knowing me… I’m not really a plaiting-hair fan 😅 so I kept postponing it. At some point, I just zeroed my mind about it entirely.
All the encouragement and motivation from family, friends, and loved ones to plait my hair again fell on deaf ears 🙃. Plaiting hair is painful, uncomfortable, and honestly? Loosing my hair is always a tug of war I wasn’t ready to fight. I wasn’t ready to subdue myself to that pain or let anyone talk me into it.
Then boom 💥
I woke up on 2nd of January, 2026 and decided out of the blue to plait my hair.
Of course, the questions started flying: “What finally changed your mind?” 🤔
“Who talked you into it?” 👀
“Are you sure this isn’t one of your pranks and you won’t cut it off tomorrow?” 😭😂
Then came the remarks: “Awwwn, hair fits you, please don’t cut it again” 🥹💖
“You look like a woman now”
me: what was I before? 😭
“It makes you look mature”
me: uwooooh! 😂
“Low cut makes you look innocent and like a child” 😶
Then this one really shocked me 😂😂
“Rose, you didn’t attend class today.”
Me: “Why?”
Them: “They were looking for a lady with low cut and glasses who sits in front.” 😭😭😂
So yes, it’s been a bit hard adjusting not just for me, but for everyone else too. Sometimes I even forget I’m now plaiting hair and still pour water on my head 🚿😭. And people still describe me as the low-cut girl with glasses.
But we’ll all be fine at the end of the day 😂😂💖
