Bystanders at the scene of the tragic car crash involving British-Nigerian boxing star Anthony Joshua in Nigeria reportedly stole his mobile phone instead of helping, an uncle of the fighter has claimed.
The family, still reeling from the deaths of two of Joshua’s close friends in the accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, expressed shock at what they described as insensitive behaviour by some onlookers who arrived at the disaster site. According to his uncle, the phone was taken shortly after the crash, a detail that has added to the emotional turmoil surrounding the incident.
Joshua, who suffered only minor injuries and was later discharged from a Lagos hospital, was in Nigeria for the festive season when the fatal collision occurred. Two members of his inner team, trainer Latif Ayodele and strength coach Sina Ghami, were killed in the crash, prompting tributes from across the boxing world and renewed calls for improved road safety and emergency response services.
In addition to this, the driver of the vehicle has since been charged with dangerous and reckless driving in connection with the crash, as authorities continue to investigate the deadly collision.
