Every office has its own ecosystem.
You may change jobs, change industries, or even move from one city to another, but somehow, you will always meet the same types of people. Different names, different faces, different departments—but the personalities remain surprisingly familiar.
From the person who knows all the office gist to the one who disappears exactly at closing time, here are some of the people you are almost guaranteed to meet in every office.
1. The Early Bird
This person arrives at the office before everyone else.
By 7:30 a.m., they are already seated, computer on, and probably wondering why the rest of you are not serious with your lives.
You will never understand how they manage to wake up that early every day. Even when there is heavy traffic, rain, or a nationwide fuel crisis, somehow, they are still at work before you.
2. The Late Comer
And then there is their exact opposite.
This person has mastered the art of arriving late with confidence.
They walk into the office at 9:45 a.m. with a straight face, greet everyone casually, and sit down like they have been there since morning.
If you ask why they are late, you will hear stories about traffic, rain, or “something came up.”
3. The Office Gist Master
If something happens in the office, this person already knows.
Someone resigned? They know why.
The manager is hiring someone new? They know the person's name.
Two colleagues had an argument? They probably witnessed it.
You don't need to ask them for information. Just sit beside them during lunch and wait.
The gist will come.
4. The Foodie
This person lives for lunch break.
They know where to get the best food around the office and can identify exactly who brought snacks from home.
The moment someone opens a food container, their head suddenly appears from nowhere.
And if you hear, "Please, just give me a little," don't believe them. They are not taking a little.
5. The Workaholic
While everyone else is counting down to closing time, this person is still working.
6 p.m.? They are working.
7 p.m.? Still working.
8 p.m.? “I'm almost done.”
They are either incredibly dedicated or have forgotten that they have a life outside the office.
6. The Clock Watcher
This person knows the exact time.
At 4:30 p.m., they are already mentally packing their bags.
At 4:45 p.m., their computer suddenly becomes very slow.
At exactly 5:00 p.m., they disappear.
If the boss calls a meeting at 4:55 p.m., you can physically see their soul leave their body.
7. The Office Fashionista
This person never repeats outfits.
Monday: Looking expensive.
Tuesday: Looking expensive.
Wednesday: Still looking expensive.
Meanwhile, you are wondering if they have a secret fashion sponsorship.
Even on casual Fridays, they somehow look like they are attending a red-carpet event.
8. The "It's Not My Job" Person
Give them a task outside their job description and watch their reaction.
“This isn't part of my responsibility.”
They know their job description by heart and will happily remind you of it.
To be fair, sometimes they have a point. But sometimes, they just don't want to help.
9. The Office Comedian
Every office needs this person.
They turn stressful meetings into comedy shows, make jokes during lunch, and somehow know exactly what to say when everyone is tired.
Without them, the office would probably feel like a prison.
10. The Quiet One
You barely hear them speak.
They come in, do their work, and leave.
They don't participate in office drama. They don't join unnecessary arguments. They don't know—or pretend not to know—what is happening.
But don't underestimate them.
They probably know everything.
They are just smart enough to stay out of it.
11. The Boss's Favourite
Nobody knows exactly what they did to earn the title, but somehow, the boss loves them.
They can make mistakes and get forgiven.
They can arrive late and receive a smile.
Meanwhile, if you arrive five minutes late, you are receiving a lecture about professionalism.
12. The Office Survivor
This person has been working there for years.
They know every manager who has ever worked in the company, every policy that has ever existed, and probably the history of the office building itself.
If you want to know how things really work, ask them.
They have seen it all.
At the end of the day, every office is a mixture of different personalities.
Some people make the work easier. Some make it more stressful. Some make you laugh, while others test your patience every single day.
But somehow, these different personalities are what make office life interesting.
Because sometimes, the best part of going to work isn't the work itself.
It's the people you meet along the way.
Which one of these people are you?or which one is your colleague?
