Mohbad's Family Accuse Authorities Of Cover-Up And Incompetence - 4 days ago

The shocking death of Afrobeats sensation Mohbad has taken a dramatic turn as the civic group Lagosians For Truth and Justice launches a scathing attack on the Nigerian Police and Lagos State Government, accusing them of bungling the investigation and possibly hiding the truth. The group is now demanding a brand-new, independent probe, claiming the current investigation is riddled with errors and secrecy.

In a fiery statement, the group’s coordinator, Rotimi Da Silva, slammed the authorities for what they call a “sham” investigation. According to them, the police failed to treat Mohbad’s death as a serious crime, neglecting to seal off the scene and ignoring key suspects. Instead, the police allegedly relied on hearsay and failed to interrogate those closest to Mohbad in his final hours, including his own partner!

The group also dropped a bombshell about the toxicology report, which was supposed to reveal the cause of Mohbad’s death. While Lagos officials claimed samples were sent to a U.S. lab, the lab itself denied ever receiving anything related to Mohbad. The government has yet to clear up this glaring contradiction, fueling even more suspicion and wild speculation among the public.

During the coroner’s inquest, the group claims investigators ignored major inconsistencies. For example, Mohbad’s brother testified that no one saw the singer alive after noon on the day he died, while another witness bizarrely claimed the body was already decomposing just hours later, something the group says is scientifically impossible. Meanwhile, Mohbad’s partner changed her story about where he died, and the nurse’s timeline didn’t match the driver’s account. The group insists these contradictions point to a possible conspiracy and a cover-up of the real events.

Lagosians For Truth and Justice didn’t hold back, warning that the government’s handling of the case is destroying its reputation and eroding public trust. They are demanding a full-scale, independent investigation, including re-interrogation of everyone present, a forensic phone analysis, and even a DNA test supervised by Mohbad’s father. They also want a guarantee that the government will stay out of the process.

Attempts to get a response from Lagos State officials were met with silence, calls and texts to the Commissioner for Information and the Police PRO went unanswered, raising even more questions about what the authorities might be hiding.

The controversy has exploded on social media and in the streets, with fans and activists demanding answers. Mohbad, just 27, was on the brink of superstardom when his life was cut short. Despite the police forming a special investigation team, the autopsy results were declared “inconclusive,” leaving the public in the dark and fueling suspicions of a cover-up.
