DEALING WITH CRITICISM - 1 year ago

Some mathematical problems were written on the board for primary 1 pupils to attempt.

The problems were as follows
3+2=        2+2+3 =
5+1=

Afterward, one of the pupils by name of Debby was called upon to provide the answers on the board to the problems given.

There was thunderous laughter immediately after she gave way for the rest of the pupils to see what she had done so far.

"You are wrong," Taye said, followed by two other pupils.

The class was becoming fun as everyone was trying to point out where she got it wrong.

"You should write this and you should count it properly..." some shouted at the top of their voices.

To my amazement, Debby was paying keen attention to all the criticism and corrections made.

After a while, I ordered everyone to be quiet as they were becoming rather too nosey.

Deborah, have you noticed your mistakes?

"Yes Aunty, thank you." She said smiling like she isn't the one that has just been criticized or corrected.

How do you take corrections?
When you fail, how do you take it?

Experience is the best teacher, but experience gotten as a result of failure is superb.

How do you take it when you are being laughed at or criticized?

One of my Pastors said, "...there's no growth for you if you become angry after being corrected."

Pay attention to your mistakes and pay something more when you are being corrected.

Embrace criticism, failure, and corrections...for these may just be a catalyst to the height you've been dreaming of.

Always, I your Growth Advocate is rooting for you.
