You see ehn, love has a funny way of showing up especially when you’re not even looking for it. Take Ijeoma for example. Fine girl, career focused, queen of “men are distractions.” Her motto was simple: “Love can wait, salary cannot.” 😌💼
Then one Lagos morning, rain decided to embarrass her plans. She was rushing to work, bag, umbrella, and small puff-puff for breakfast when she jumped into a BRT. The bus moved suddenly, and next thing… her puff-puff flew like a sacrifice straight into a stranger’s lap. 😭
“Excuse me, miss,” the guy said, laughing. “Is this your breakfast or your way of saying hello?”
She wanted the ground to swallow her, but this man, tall, calm, and smiling like life owed him nothing handed her one puff-puff back and said, “Since we’ve shared food, we’re technically friends now.”
That’s how Chuka entered the picture.
One innocent apology text turned into daily chats. One lunch to “say sorry properly” turned into weekly hangouts. And before Ijeoma knew it, her heart was doing “God when?” things she once mocked her friends for. 😅
She caught herself smiling at her phone, laughing at memes that weren’t even funny, and worst of all saying “we” instead of “I.” The same girl that once tweeted “I don’t need love to survive” was now arguing over who should make indomie at midnight. 😂
Fast forward to a few months later, they’re at a friend’s wedding. The DJ is playing “Iyawo Mi” and everyone’s vibing. Suddenly, Chuka kneels down. In front of 300 screaming people.
“Ijeoma,” he said, smiling that same smile from the BRT, “I didn’t plan to fall in love that day, but I’m glad your breakfast attached me.”
She just froze, eyes wide, then started laughing and crying at the same time. Of course, she said yes. 💍
Now, anytime she tells the story, she ends with:
“Girls, if puff-puff flies from your hand, don’t chase it. That might just be your destiny landing in someone’s lap.” 😂❤️
