YOU DID THIS! - 9 hours ago

The phone call had ended, but the ringing in her ears hadn't. Dami sat frozen at her desk, phone face-down like she could smother the words that had just come through it. "You're nothing without me. You'll never make it on your own." The same script, different day. Only this time, something in her had gone quiet instead of small.

She stared at her trembling hands. For months, his voice had lived in her head rent-free — questioning every decision, shrinking every win, making her whisper "maybe he's right" into pillows at 2 a.m.
Even now, miles and silence away from him, she'd caught herself second-guessing the very desk she was sitting at.

But tonight, something shifted.

She stood up slowly and walked to the window of her office. Outside, the city lights blinked like they were keeping her company. She turned back and, for the first time in a long while, actually *looked* — really looked — at the space around her.

The whiteboard still had last quarter's targets scrawled across it, half of them ticked off in green marker. The shelf behind her desk held the plaque from her first major client win — the one she'd almost turned down because she didn't think she was "ready." The framed photo of her team on launch day, all of them exhausted and grinning, sat catching the evening light.

None of this had come from him. None of it had needed his permission.

She thought about the nights she'd built decks alone at her kitchen table after he'd gone quiet with anger over nothing. The mornings she'd shown up to meetings with her mind cracked open from an argument the night before, and still closed the deal. The version of her that kept whispering "not now, not yet" — and she had shown up anyway.

Every doubt he'd planted had tried to convince her this — all of this — was luck, or timing, or someone else's mercy. But standing here now, she knew better.

Looking around her office, Dami let it sink in. The late nights, the doubts, the doors that almost didn't open — none of it was wasted. Every bit of it had led here. She smiled to herself. "Dami," she whispered, "you did this."

And for the first time in a long time, she believed it completely.
