The All Progressives Congress in the South-West has called on young people across Ondo State to seize the ongoing voter registration exercise and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, describing the document as the key to shaping the outcome of the 2027 general elections.
South-West APC Youth Leader, Daramola Adesuyi, made the appeal in a statement, stressing that the reopening of voter registration by the Independent National Electoral Commission offers a crucial opportunity for first-time voters and previously unregistered citizens to enter the electoral roll.
Adesuyi said the PVC is not just a voting tool but a powerful instrument of civic engagement and a valid means of identification, adding that no citizen can participate in elections without it, regardless of political interest or eligibility.
He argued that mass voter registration and high turnout are essential to a healthy democracy, ensuring that elected leaders genuinely reflect the will of the people. According to him, youth participation is particularly critical in Ondo State, where a large proportion of the population is under 35 and increasingly vocal about governance and accountability.
The zonal youth leader directed APC youth structures and allied groups to treat the current registration window as a political priority. He urged local government youth leaders, party chieftains, student unions, campus-based organisations, community youth groups and aspirants at all levels to embark on aggressive mobilisation to register new voters and assist those needing transfers or card replacements.
Adesuyi noted that the present phase of the Continuous Voter Registration is the third and final leg of the current nationwide exercise, following an earlier round that ended in April 2026. He reminded residents that the process also accommodates those who have relocated within or outside Ondo State and need to move their registration to new polling units.
INEC has said the ongoing phase of the CVR will run for several weeks, giving eligible Nigerians another chance to register ahead of the 2027 polls. With political parties already fine-tuning strategies for the election cycle, the APC youth wing in the South-West is positioning voter registration as the foundation of its campaign, insisting that without PVCs in the hands of young supporters, party structures and manifestos will have limited impact at the ballot box.
