My name is Odili Peculiar, and in this production, I’m not just playing a character — I’m stepping into a life that feels close to home. I play a university student struggling to afford a textbook — stranded, stressed, and unsure where help will come from.
As an actress, my job is not just to say lines, but to live her truth. So when I wear her costume and walk onto the stage, I imagine everything she feels: the weight of being broke, the fear of failure, the quiet strength it takes to keep going.
I draw from my own experiences — the times I’ve felt lost, pressured, or had to figure things out alone. I imagine what it’s like to sit in class without the materials I need, pretending everything is okay. Through her, I bring those emotions to life.
Every scene is a challenge. I have to be vulnerable, but still strong. I have to make people believe in her. But that’s what I love about acting — the power to make people *feel*.
This role has taught me that acting isn’t pretending. It’s about understanding, connecting, and telling the truth — even when it’s hard.
