Akwa Ibom Governor Urges Corps Members To Help Drive National Development - 1wk ago

Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has called on members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to the state to use their talents, energy and creativity for national development, stressing that their service is central to nation-building. Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the 2026 Batch A Stream 1 corps members in Nsit-Atai Local Government Area, the governor—represented by the state’s Commissioner for Youth Development—reminded the young graduates that the oath they took makes them co-builders of Nigeria’s future and urged them to transcend ethnic and cultural divides in their contributions. He also assured corps members of the government’s commitment to their welfare and security during the service year and said promised upgrades to the orientation camp will begin soon.

Governor Eno emphasised that the state government is dedicated to ensuring a supportive environment for the corps members, pledging protection of their lives and property while encouraging them to embrace the duties ahead with resilience and dedication. NYSC directors at the event urged members to fully engage with all camp activities—designed to equip them intellectually and physically for national service—and to respect local culture and traditions during their deployment.
