The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has commended the Dangote Petroleum Refinery for helping deliver a smooth and crisis-free fuel supply during the 2025 Christmas and New Year festive period, a time historically marked by scarcity, long queues, and panic buying at petrol stations across Nigeria. According to MURIC’s Executive Director, Nigerians were able to travel freely, celebrate, and conduct business without the fear of fuel shortages, with filling stations operating normally and motorists accessing petrol without difficulty — a stark contrast to previous years when long queues and black-market prices were common.
Industry observers and national stakeholders have pointed to the refinery’s boosted production and strategic pricing as key factors behind the improved supply dynamics, with the facility reportedly scaling up daily petrol availability and cutting gantry prices ahead of the peak season to support broader market stability. Supporters say this development underscores the potential of local refining capacity to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imports and cushion consumers against perennial fuel shortages that have plagued the economy for decades.
