In the far away of the northern Mali, the sound of the modern African cinema is not just about the noise around, it is a carrier of emotions, traditions and a living narrator.There was no music , the only sound heard is of a relentless breath of an old man holding a stolen manuscript 🥺. Car screamed and yelling in Afrobeats from a passing bus. The sound was so full and messy, it made the audience relentlessly. When the main character stopped, the chaos of the city did not fade, it pushed harder the sound became that of poverty, the speed of survival and of a modern Africa that lost its sleep.In deep green forest of Gabon, the trees spoke hushly with a fast snap of the wood, there a quiet humming of a mask dance that shifted from the left speaker to the left. Holding tightly unto the audience with an unseen rope that it sounded piercing and wrong, like an axe chopping down an ancient tree.
