Tambuwal Visits Sokoto After USA Airstrike - 1 month ago

Former Governor and current Senator Aminu Tambuwal swooped in for a high-profile “solidarity visit,” eager to be seen comforting residents and projecting leadership in the aftermath of the military operation.

Tambuwal, ever the politician, called for calm and urged locals to trust security agencies, despite the obvious fear and confusion gripping the community. “Leaders are on ground to assess the situation, reassure the people and ensure that peace is maintained,” he declared, making sure cameras captured every word. He offered the usual platitudes, expressing sympathy and praying that such “tragic events” wouldn’t happen again, while praising the community for not panicking.

He also took the opportunity to deliver a lecture on terrorism, insisting it’s not about religion or ethnicity, but a fight of “goodwill against evil.” The senator’s message: support the government and security agencies, and everything will be fine, never mind the devastation left behind by the airstrikes.

The District Head of Jabo, Alhaji Aliyu Graba, played his part, thanking Tambuwal for the visit and applauding the government’s “prompt response.” He dutifully pledged the community’s ongoing cooperation, as if that alone could guarantee security in a region now under international military scrutiny.

Meanwhile, the political blame game exploded. Former presidential candidate Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim wasted no time slamming the APC-led Federal Government, calling the US intervention proof of President Bola Tinubu’s “deep-rooted security failures.” He even dragged in the mysterious Offa explosion, painting a picture of a country spiraling out of control.

Olawepo-Hashim insisted the US strikes, allegedly coordinated with Nigerian authorities, highlighted the world’s growing alarm over Nigeria’s security collapse. He called the government’s reliance on foreign firepower a “damning indictment” and accused the APC of failing to fix the country’s broken security system.

He didn’t stop there. According to Olawepo-Hashim, poverty, bad governance, and weak institutions have emboldened extremists, while political compromises since 2015 have left the government toothless. He warned that unless Nigeria gets its act together, terror groups could soon carve out their own territory.

While acknowledging that foreign airstrikes might offer a quick fix, Olawepo-Hashim argued that only sweeping internal reforms could bring lasting peace. He raised the alarm about sovereignty and accountability, warning that repeated foreign interventions could backfire if not tightly controlled.

“The situation in the North-West is dire,” he proclaimed, questioning whether the APC government is even capable of the reforms needed to save Nigeria from further chaos.
