U.S. President Donald Trump has declared the establishment of a Gaza “Board of Peace”, marking the launch of the second phase of a U.S.-backed strategy aimed at ending the long-running conflict and guiding the enclave’s post-war future. Trump announced the board’s formation on social media, saying its members will be revealed soon and describing it as an ambitious effort to bring stability to the war-torn territory. The board is designed to oversee a newly created Palestinian technocratic governing committee that will manage everyday affairs in Gaza during a transitional period after a fragile ceasefire. 

The move comes amid diplomatic efforts with Egypt, Qatar and Turkey to secure a comprehensive demilitarization agreement with Hamas, which remains a central sticking point in the peace plan. Supporters of the initiative see the board and interim governance structure as a necessary step toward reconstruction and lasting calm, while critics — including many Palestinians — warn that externally driven governance risks ignoring local needs and justice demands.
