Davido, born David Adedeji Adeleke on November 21, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia, is a Nigerian-American singer, songwriter, and record producer. Raised in Lagos, Nigeria, he is widely recognized as a pivotal figure in the global rise of Afrobeats music. He is also the founder of Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) and holds dual Nigerian and American citizenship. Davido's music career began in 2011 with the release of "Dami Duro," a hit single that propelled him into the Nigerian music spotlight. His debut album, Omo Baba Olowo (2012), featured several successful tracks and established his presence in the industry. He continued to gain international acclaim with subsequent albums: A Good Time (2019), A Better Time (2020), and Timeless (2023) and his latest which is titled 5ive.

5ive is the fifth studio album by Nigerian singer Davido, released on 18 April 2025, through Davido Music Worldwide, Columbia Records, and Sony Music Entertainment. Davido announced the album on 5 December 2024 via his official Instagram page, sharing its title and release window. According to Davido, 5ive represents "a new chapter of personal growth and global connection." Davido’s albums (always 17 tracks) deal in the sort of subtle, luxurious beats that you’d hear anywhere from beachside bars to barbershops.

The album features a group of globally recognized artists including incredibly proficient American singer, songwriter and dancer,Chris brown; Unbelievably competent American singer and Grammy winner, Victoria monét; highly capable Jamaican dancehall vocalist,Shenseea; fast-rising Jamaican sensation,450; promising reggae artist and son of legends,YG Marley; versatile and prominent Nigerian music sensation,Victony; heavyweight Nigerian rapper and performer,ODUMODUBLVCK; exceptionally gifted South African singer,Musa Keys; multi talented American popstar and actress,Becky G; famous French singer,Tayc; veteran Congolese-French singer songwriter,Dadju; gifted Nigerian singer and actor,Chike; and emotionally expressive Nigerian music mastermind,Omah Lay.

At its best, 5ive is a decent sequel to 2023’s Timeless, which marked the apotheosis of Afropop’s ability to stealthily subsume elements of other genres into its wonderfully delicate, shuffling rhythms, creating something generis yet instantly comprehensible.

This album is unmiserable due to the fact that it's playlist is of premium music and is a wonderful art from Davido.
