A Cinematographer plays an essential role in film production, dictating the overall look and visual style of a motion picture, television, show, music, video or advert.

As a Cinematographer I understand that my role is to bring the director's vision to life on screen, handling all the technical aspects of visual storytelling.

A Cinematographer also known as Director of Photography (D.O.P) I'm generally involved in the entirety of the film production from the early storyboarding stage - working on the in depth visual narrative - right through to post production.

I as a D.O.P will work hand in hand on set with the director to bring motion pictures to life, I'm to determine the look, colour and lighting of a scene.

Things a Cinematographer should look out for:
Camera placement, camera movement, Camera angle, lens choice, Lighting, Shot size, Composition, Depth of field and aspect ratio.

How I intend to approach my role as a Cinematographer.
1. To give a very good cinematic view, of the shot taken.
2. Communication to the Director for a good outcome.

Foreseeable challenges and how to surmount to it
1. The challenge of unpredictable light and environment.
2. Not being a good camera operator.
3. Budgeting
4. Safety of equipment.

Being able to have alternative use of power supply. Practice of camera and online training. Breaking down the budget for it to be achievable. The camera assistant should be in charge of all equipment.
