Bayern Munich Begins Formal Talks With Harry Kane Over Contract Extension - 1wk ago

Bayern Munich have begun formal talks with star striker Harry Kane over a contract extension that would further cement his status as the club’s long-term attacking focal point.

Sporting director Max Eberl confirmed that discussions are underway with the England captain, whose current deal runs until 2027. Bayern are exploring an additional one or two years, potentially tying Kane to the Bundesliga giants until 2028 or 2029.

“We are talking to Harry,” Eberl told Sky Germany, adding that both sides understand a decision will eventually be required but stressing there is no sense of panic within the club hierarchy.

Kane’s impact since his high-profile move from Tottenham Hotspur has been transformative. Signed for around £100 million, he arrived in Munich carrying the weight of expectation that comes with one of the biggest transfers in Bundesliga history. He has more than justified that investment, delivering elite-level consistency in front of goal and quickly becoming the centrepiece of Bayern’s attack.

The forward has produced a remarkable return, scoring 119 goals in 126 appearances. His output has not only driven Bayern’s domestic ambitions but also reshaped the record books. Kane recently became the fastest player to reach 100 goal contributions in Bundesliga history, underlining his blend of finishing, creativity and tactical intelligence.

Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen highlighted the mutual trust between club and player, stressing that the environment in Munich has been key to Kane’s performances. “Harry has great confidence in us and he feels comfortable in Munich. He and his family are settled in. Therefore we’ve got absolutely no reason to rush,” Dreesen said.

Off the club stage, Kane’s pedigree is equally formidable. He is England’s all-time leading scorer, with 78 goals in 112 international appearances, and remains one of the most prolific forwards of his generation. His 213 Premier League goals for Tottenham leave him within striking distance of Alan Shearer’s long-standing record, a benchmark that continues to frame his legacy in English football.

For Bayern, securing Kane beyond 2027 would be a powerful statement of intent, ensuring that one of the world’s premier strikers remains at the heart of their project as they plan for the next phase of domestic and European challenges.
