Amotekun Intercepts Suspicious Truck, Detains 38 In Akure - 3wks ago

Ondo State’s Amotekun Corps has intercepted a suspicious truck in the Cathedral area of Akure, detaining 38 passengers who could not clearly explain their purpose or destination in the state. The coal-laden Mercedes-Benz vehicle, bearing Jigawa registration, was stopped during a routine security operation after its occupants, mostly young men from northern Nigeria, failed to provide verifiable addresses or contact details when asked by operatives. One individual was also found with a uniform marked “Commander” and some charms, which he claimed were for his work as a hunter, but could not account for his travel plans.

Amotekun’s state commander, Adetunji Adeleye, said the vehicle was picked up along a route known for past extremist activity, prompting heightened suspicion about the group’s intentions. All 38 individuals are being profiled thoroughly; those found culpable will face the full weight of the law, while others may be returned to their states of origin. Adeleye urged residents to remain calm and encouraged the public to share credible information with security agencies to help sustain peace and safety across Ondo.
