"Don't use AI." It’s a command we hear constantly, yet rarely do we hear, "Here is how to use AI responsibly."
Even now, writing this introduction, I had to resist the magnetic pull of ChatGPT. It would have been so easy to let an algorithm define who I am. And that is exactly the problem.
The issue isn't AI itself; it is our dependency.
Evidence from MIT indicates that over-reliance on AI leads to cognitive atrophy literally, a weakening of your problem-solving muscles. It’s "brain rot." Like a sugar crash or a dependency on a substance, we consume AI for the instant gratification of a finished task. But in doing so, we stop thinking. We become like Sisyphus, endlessly pushing a boulder up a hill, thinking we are making progress while actually stuck in a loop of dependency.
So, do we ban the bot? Absolutely not.
Just as we manage our diet or health, we must manage our cognitive intake. We need to move from using AI as a crutch to using it as a catalyst.
I'm Joy. Join me on this journey. My portfolio explores a simple truth: True AI ethics isn't about restricting technology. It's about relearning how to think alongside it.
